Public Open Spaces
Mumbai, one of the world’s densest cities, faces a severe shortage of accessible public open spaces, with just 1.24 sq. m. available per person, far below the recommended standard. NAGAR has been at the forefront of advocating for the protection, mapping, and better management of these critical urban resources. Through extensive ground surveys, policy engagement, and collaborations like the ongoing project with UDRI, we aim to ensure every Mumbaikar has access to clean, safe, and inclusive open spaces. Explore our research, data tools, and advocacy initiatives shaping Mumbai’s public realm.
